We had to cancel our levelled class today so we could have more time to practice our Christmas performance. But I was able to hand out the test scope and the assignment for the oral test next week. They should be in the communication book, but here they are again.
Here is the test scope:
Review &
Test Weeks – Weeks 18 & 19
Hello Parents,
Our
class will have their first round of Exams starting next week for this
semester.
Please
note the scheduled test dates:
The Listening/Reading
Test will
be on Wednesday, December 28th.
The
Oral
Presentation Test will begin on Thursday,
December 29th and continue for as long as is necessary.
The
English Written Test will be held on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023.
The tests will cover the following:
FOR ALL EXAMS:
Review Communication book, Reader’s-Writer’s Notebook, homework writing books,
quizzes and Unit tests for weeks 14-17.
Reading Street Stories and
Articles – Ten Mile Day and At the Beach
Have
a good understanding of the meanings and usages of vocabulary words from weeks fourteen and sixteen.
LISTENING / READING TEST:
Stay focused and listen
carefully to the whole conversation before selecting your answers. Some of the
readings may go fast and have some words you don’t understand.
ORAL TEST:
For this test, I will have
the students present about food. It can
be food that they love, or maybe food that they hate. I highly recommend that students record the
presentation. It should be about 3-5
minutes long, but I prefer quality to quantity.
The grading rubric will be put in the communication book, and I also
have it on my blog.
WRITTEN TEST:
Review Communication book, Reader’s-Writer’s Notebook, homework writing books,
quizzes and Unit tests for weeks 14-17.
Reading Street Stories and
Articles – Ten Mile Day and At the Beach
Have
a good understanding of the meanings and usages of vocabulary words from weeks fourteen and sixteen.
I encourage
students to bring books (R&W Notebook, communication books) home to help
prepare for the tests. Please be sure to
bring them back to class each day as we will continue to work with them
together.
Mr. Gaines
Here is the oral test assignment and grading rubric:
Oral Exam #3 – Food Review
For our third speaking exam, I’m going to have you review
your favorite food. You are going to tell
the class about your food. You can
either present this live, in front of the class, or record a video for us to
watch. I highly recommend that you record the presentation. The presentation should last from 3 to 5
minutes and cover the following:
·
What’s the name of the food?
·
What country invented the food?
·
Where you can buy the food?
·
How do they make the food?
·
What does it taste like? What is the texture? What color is it?
·
What is the best part? Is it healthy? Is it fun to eat?
·
What is bad about it? Is it bad for you? Will it
make you fat or rot your teeth? Maybe
nothing is bad?
·
Should I eat it?
When should I eat it? (breatkfast? lunch? dinner?)
·
How many stars do you give the food out of ten?
I hope that every review will answer each of these
questions, and more if you have more to say. The grading rubric for the test
will be as follows:
